A Tongan carved wood war club, dating to the 19th century. This style of pole club is commonly known as a Povai and is intricately carved with tavatava and traditional geometric designs of various forms that cover the entire surface. This is a great example that has particularly fine carving. This club is a good size and has an excellent dark colour and patina.

Condition:
A few age related shrinkage cracks on the shaft, the largest one near the head (see photos). Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
