A Tongan carved Povai pole club, dating to the mid 19th century. This club is intricately carved with “tavatava”, traditional geometric patterns of various forms, covering the entire surface. This fine and highly detailed carving is most impressive and is testimony to the incredible craftsmanship of Polynesian carving. The club has an excellent dark colour and patina.
