A Flemish painting of The Penitent Magdalene, dating to the 17th century. Oil on copper panel with a stamped panel maker's mark “KW” on the reverse and an illegible inscription. Later presented in a 19th century parcel gilt frame. This fine quality painting depicts the Penitent Mary Magdalene with hands in prayer next to a crucifix, a skull, and an open book. The level of detail within the painting is exceptional, with the detailed weave of the cloak particularly impressive. The reverse of the painting is protected by modern hardboard and has apertures to show the inscription and the panel maker's mark.
