Still-Life of Fruit
Still-Life of Fruit
Description:
A wonderful still-life painting, dating to the second half of the 19th century. Oil on canvas (relined) and presented in a period gilt frame. This is a lovely painting that depicts bunches of grapes, apples, flowers, leaves and a branch of holly with berries, all set upon an intricate lace tablecloth. The painting has an impressive amount of detail similar to that of the Pre-Raphaelites, in particular the tablecloth that is very finely painted.
Dimensions:
Picture size: 40.6cm x 30.3cm.
Frame size: 55cm x 44.7cm.
Condition:
The painting has been relined and there are some small touch-ins in the background in places. The frame has been overpainted in gold and there are some areas of small loss to two corners and there is restoration/filling matched in, mostly to the edges.
