Description:

A Jaques Staunton chess box, dating to the 19th century. Slide top revealing red velvet interior. Green label on the lid reads “THE STAUNTON CHESS-MEN. Two Prize Medals Awarded, 1862. .... JAQUES & SON, LONDON.” and H. Staunton facsimile signature. This is an empty box with no chess set.

Dimensions:

Height: 6.8cm. Width: 15.3cm. Depth: 12.3cm.

Condition:

Lid is loose fitting and can be lifted out – I suspect the box has been apart and reassembled at one point and the top is now slightly wider allowing the lid to be lifted out. It can be fitted in securely by closing it all the way carefully and making sure it all lines-up. Some slight scuff marks to the label. Traces of glue to the underside of lid. Age related wear as expected. Please examine photos carefully.

Postage:

Calculated at checkout.

Item will be sent tracked and signed-for.
