A lovely pair of paintings depicting the Virgin Mary and Saint John, dating to the 18th century. Both are oil on panel and presented in later (20th century) black & gilt cassetta style frames. The pair are expertly painted and display very well.

Condition:
It is possible the blue cloak of the Virgin has been overpainted. Both panels are slightly bowed (The virgin more-so) but the frames have been adapted to accommodate this. The reverse of the Virgin shows a closed crack (or join?) but this does not appear on the front. There is are-related wear as expected but overall both appear in good condition and are ready to hang. Please examine photos carefully.
