A Regency red leather sewing box, dating to circa 1820. This wonderful sewing box is of sarcophagus form with red leather covering and adorned with gilt repoussé mounts, handles and paw feet. The interior is compartmentalised and lined with red paper, and includes a small leather booklet for holding one's needles. There is a useful lower pull out draw. The box retains its original lock mechanism, key and hinges. This is a lovely box that has a great shape and could be used as a jewellery box rather than for sewing.

Condition:
Leather on the front of draw may have been replaced and some wear on the front right side of draw. Splits to leather on both side panels next to the front feet. Back left paw foot has small part missing. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
