A fine Persian Qajar lacquer papier-mache pen box (qalamdan), dating to the mid to late 19th century. Of typical elongated oval form with sliding drawer, the outer case decorated with intricate gilded floral motifs on a blue and black ground. The inner sliding drawer decorated with gilded floral motifs on a red ground. Some condition issues listed below.
