Description:
A portrait painting of a gentleman named Hezekiah Clark by Oscar Wilson (1867-1930), dating to the late 19th century. Oil on panel and presented in a period swept gilt frame. This fine quality portrait depicts Hezekiah Clark in full military uniform with his hands resting upon his sword. A label verso reads “Oil on panel portrait of Hezekiah Clark, died 1861, in military uniform and wearing the India medal for the siege of Bhurpoor. He was senior surgeon of the Honourable East India Company. He lived at Government House Calcutta 1823-1840s.
The artist Oscar Wilson has an extensive Wikipedia artist that details his life and work as a prolific painter, illustrator and cartoonist.
