A portrait painting of a Napoleon (1755-1820), dating to the early 19th century. Oil on canvas and presented in a period gilt swept frame. This fine quality painting depicts Napoleon in military uniform wearing the ribbon, star and medal of the Grand Eagle of the Legion of Honour. This painting is similar but different to those that are after Jacques Louis David's famous painting of Napoleon, as this example has Napoleon forward facing and gazing to the side. I cannot find a painting of Napoleon in this same composition.
