Description:
A portrait painting of Ellen Terry, dating to circa 1910. Oil on board and presented in a Victorian gilt frame. This fine quality painting is after George Frederic Watts' (1817-1904) portrait of Ellen Terry titled “Choosing” that is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London. The painting depicts George Frederic Watts' first wife, the actress Ellen Terry, having to choose between the camellias in her right hand and the small bunch of violets cradled in her left hand. The painting offered is a faithful rendition that captures the mood and emotion of the original and is painted to a high standard. The Winsor & Newton Rathbone label verso suggests a date of 1910-1920.
