A fine quality portrait of a gentleman in an interior, dating to circa 1810. Oil on copper and presented in a period swept gilt frame. This is a strong portrait of a captivating sitter whose identity for now remains a mystery. He is dressed in a black jacket with a white shirt and black cravat. He is posed seated with one arm resting upon a book and the other hand carefully holding what appears to be a piece of jewellery attached to a red ribbon.
