A fine quality portrait of a gentleman, dating to circa 1820. Oil on canvas and presented in a later 20th century gilt frame. This is a strong portrait of a captivating sitter whose identity for now remains a mystery. He is dressed in a black jacket with a white shirt and cravat. He is sat upon a red chair and there is an intriguing stone column in the background. The canvas has been relined and restored at some point – detailed condition report below.

Condition:
Canvas relined at some point. Possible small restored tear on the black jacket located to the right side of the shirt – it's very hard to tell as it could be a deep bit of craqueleur. There is fine cracqueleur elsewhere mostly the background but this is subtle and stable. The painting is otherwise in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
