A portrait painting of a lady, signed and dated “Ed Hastings 1836”. Watercolour on paper and presented under glass in a later (20th c) maple veneered frame with gilt slip. This wonderful painting is carefully observed and depicts a young and pretty lady wearing a white dress with a fur shawl around her shoulders. There is a mysterious sheet of paper resting upon her lap – a document or drawing perhaps? This is a sensitive and delicate painting that is well presented and in ready to hang condition.
