Description:

A painting of a racehorse and jockey by Alfred Charles Havell (1855-1928), dating to circa 1890. Oil on canvas and presented in a Victorian gilt frame. This fine quality painting depicts a jockey sitting upon a bay racehorse that appears spooked by a white feather that has fallen on the grass. This is a wonderful painting with an excellent amount of detail. It is signed “A. C. Havell” lower left and has an illegible inscription on the stretcher verso – possibly the name of the horse or jockey.

Picture size: 33.5cm x 25.5cm.

Frame size: 41.3cm x 33.6cm.

Condition:

Small pin-prick type hole in top left corner next to frame. The frame has wear to the gilding and a small bit of minor damage to the lower left inner corner. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
