A portrait painting of a gentleman, dating to the second half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas and presented in a later swept gilt frame (20th century). This fine quality portrait depicts a dashing gentleman dressed in a navy jacket and white cravat, set against a background of red drapery, a column and an opening revealing the sky. This is an excellent portrait for both the quality of the painting as well as the character of the sitter that the artist has captured exceptionally well.

Condition:
Fine craquelure throughout. Multiple small touch-ins throughout – mostly to the background. Paint thin on the cheek edge of face. Old varnish has slightly dulled leaving a slightly darker area around the edges. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
