An oval portrait painting of a gentleman, dating to the mid 19th century. Oil on canvas laid to board and presented in a period oval gilt frame. This fine quality painting depicts a gentleman wearing a black jacket, white shirt and black cravat. There is a lovely detail of a garnet brooch and gold fob chain that the sitter is also wearing.

The painting has been later laid onto board. Fine craquelure throughout. Small area of touch-in/restoration to black cravat and small area of background on the left side. Some rubbing to the gilt of the frame. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
