A fine quality portrait of a gentleman, dating to circa 1800. Oil on canvas and presented in a period gilt frame. The portrait is finely painted and of a small intimate size, depicting the distinguished looking gentleman dressed in a dark navy jacket, white shirt and white silk cravat. Indistinctly inscribed on the stretcher verso with presumably the sitters name; “James ….”.

Condition:
Canvas slightly sagged with stretcher marks visible to front. Fine craquelure throughout. The frame has small knocks and touch-ins to the corners. Rubbing to the gilding in areas. Age related wear as expected but overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
