A lovely Orientalist painting of a reclining lady, dating to the first half of the 19th century. Oil on tin and presented in a period oval gilt swept frame. This fine painting depicts a beautiful young lady wearing a pink and white dress with a gilt-edged brown robe, playing with a white silk headscarf. She is reclining on red fabric and set against a clear blue sky with a palm tree in the distance. The attention to detail is excellent, particularly her gold snake bracelet and pearl necklace. There is an old label to the reverse but unfortunately the writing has faded away.

Condition:
Fine craqueleur throughout. Very minimal surface marks. Frame appears to have been restored to a high standard with strengthening the reverse to repair an old horizontal split on both sides. Some wear to the frame's gilding. Age related wear as expected but overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
