Description:
A carved marble relief of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary to St Elizabeth, probably dating to the 18th or 19th century. This is a finely carved relief depicting the scene of the Visitation, where the Virgin Mary pregnant with Jesus visits her cousin Elizabeth who is pregnant with John the Baptist. This marble plaque is stylistically early and could be, but with the smooth back I believe it is more likely to be 18th or 19th century.
