A marble portrait bust of an artist, dating to the late 19th century. This is a finely carved French marble bust that depicts a gentleman in formal dress, the integral base ornamented with an artist's palette and brushes, and is stood upon an additional base that is decorated with an emblem of the Légion d'honneur (?). The identity of the sitter remains unidentified and merits further research. This is an accomplished, finely carved piece of sculpture and it would be wonderful to identify who the sitter is.

Condition:
A couple of minor chips to the back edge of bust, and a larger chip to the back of the base with some more nibbles/chips to the back edge. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
