A Maori carved tokotoko/walking stick, dating to the second half of the 19th century. This finely carved tokotoko depicts a chief (Rangatira) with full moko/tattoos and wearing a cloak. The shaft is carved with kowhaiwhai designs and the lower 3rd left unadorned. The quality of carving on the figure is excellent and the whole piece has a wonderful colour and patina.
