A Maori war club, dating to the 19th century. This wooden club from New Zealand is known as a “Taiaha” and is of typical form with a tapered shaft and the upoko (head) intricately carved on both sides and the tongue with spiral motifs. This is a very fine example and has an excellent colour and patina.

Condition:
Some old damage/erosion to the tip of the head, mostly on one side. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
