A lovely carved wood and gilded Louis XIII-XIV carved frame, dating to the early 19th century or possibly before. The heavily foxed bevelled mirror plate is a later addition. The frame retains its lovely original gilding and is carved to a very high quality with delightful foliage and floral details. It would make a great frame for a painting but it also works well as a mirror.

Condition:
Some small losses to the carving in places (outer edges and a bit of the tongued/grooved inner decoration on the slip in the corners). The gilding worn in places revealing the dark red bole colour. The later mirror plate is foxed/“distressed”. Age related wear as expected but overall okay. Please examine photos carefully.
