A superb Norwegian carved burr birch peg tankard of large proportions, dating to circa 1750. This fine tankard has a carved lion thumb piece connected to the hinge of the handle and lid. The domed lid is carved in relief with an ornate scrolling design. The handle carved with incised line decoration. The body of the tankard sits upon three carved feet. The tankard is an impressive large size and has developed a wonderful colour and patina.

Condition:
Some minor small bumps and marks. Small loss/nibbles to the edge of the lid. Natural flaw in the body where the handle is attached. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
