A fine pair of oval portraits, presumably husband and wife, dating to circa 1810. Oil on copper and presented in period gilt swept frames with oval mounts. Both paintings depict head and shoulder portraits of the sitters; the gentleman wearing a green blazer and white cravat, the lady wearing a green dress with hints of red, and a lace bonnet and collar. These paintings are particularly well painted with excellent draughtsmanship and painting technique. There is no information on the sitters and the paintings are unsigned, but clearly by an accomplished hand.

Condition:
The gentleman has two small touch-ins to the background on right hand side. Both frames appear to have been overpainted in gold. The gold mount of the lady has a small blemish on right edge. Both held in by thumb tacks but seem very secure. Age related wear as expected but overall in good ready to hang condition. Please examine photos carefully.
