A silk covered domed box, dating to the mid 19th century. Of wooden construction and covered in purple silk that is now faded to a mauve colour, and embroidered with multiple fleur-de-lis in orange and yellow silk, and a coat of arms depicting a shield with three towers and three fleur-de-lis surmounted by a crown. The edges have later applied metallic thread borders and the interior of the box is lined with turquoise silk. As can be seen the outside of the box is very worn, faded and threadbare, but it still retains a wonderful look.

Condition:
The box is worn, faded and threadbare. Areas of losses to the silk and embroidered decoration. The silk is slightly loose in some areas and a whole panel of silk missing on the reverse. Some staining on one side. I believe the metallic thread borders are a later addition. Age related wear as expected but displays well. Please examine photos carefully.
