Description:

An ecclesiastical Gothic Revival plafonnier ceiling light in the manner of Pugin, dating to circa 1870 with a later art deco glass bowl dating to the 1920/30s. The heavy opaque glass bowl modelled with a six-pointed star and geometric shapes is supported by a gothic revival brass surround with pierced quatrefoil designs and adorned with red and white glass cabochons. Three decorative branches with further cabochons hold the chains that are suspended from the decorative ceiling fixture with quatrefoil designs and red and white cabochons. This is a wonderful quality piece and the drop height can be adjusted by doubling over the chains.
Postage only available within the UK.

Dimensions:

Total height fully suspended including fixture: 88cm.
Total height when chains are doubled over including fixture: 49.5cm.
Diameter inc branches: 48cm.
Total weight: 7.6kg.

Condition:

The glass bowl is a later addition to the piece and has some small surface marks. A few of the decorative brass “petals” have stress fractures/cracks including a larger one on the ceiling fixture, and a couple of the brass petals that surround a cabochon are missing (all of the cabochons are present). Interior of the brass support shows traces of red paint which suggests there was possibly an inner liner that would've been visible through the pierced quatrefoil designs. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
