A gothic revival carved oak adjustable sliding book stand, dating to the second half of the 19th century. This useful book stand has decorative carved ends with pierced tracery designs. The ends are hinged to allow for folding and the base can be extended by sliding the ends apart. This is a good quality piece that has a lovely patina. There is a possible maker and number stamped underneath.
