Description:
A pair of Egyptian revival bronze and glass lustre candlesticks, dating to the second half of the 19th century. Each candlestick constructed of a bronze column decorated with hieroglyphs, set upon a triform base with three gilt bronze seated Egyptian figures with headdresses. The gilt bronze sconces sit upon a cut-glass lustre tray with drops. These are a highly decorative pair of candlesticks however I believe the glass to be a later marriage as the way it sits between the stem and sconce doesn't seem “finished” - or perhaps an additional washer/spacer is missing. The glass can be removed but the length of the internal bolt leaves a small gap between the stem and sconce – not particularly noticeable but could easily be reduced by a competent restorer.
Dimensions:
Height: 20.3cm. Diameter: 9.8cm.
Condition:
One of the glass trays has a small chip on the inner hole/rim. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
