A Norwegian/Danish carved birchwood tankard, dating to the mid-19th century. This excellent tankard is of staved construction with bentwood bands and raised upon three integral feet. The hinged lid, handle and body are profusely decorated with fine chip-carved geometric patterns. The body features seven rosettes each intricately carved with different designs. The piece has an attractive, rich colour and patina.

Condition:
A small chip/crack to the rim of the lid. A small stable crack on the body where the handle is attached. Some minor marks. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
