Description:

A carved wood roundel of Bacchus, dating to the 18th century. This high-relief carved roundel depicts the head of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, with a gilded wreath in his hair and surrounded by a border of gilt acanthus leaves. The wreath and surround are later painted gold but work well. The piece was likely once an architectural element and is finely carved and highly decorative with a great colour and patina.

Dimensions:

Height: 41.5cm. Width: 45.5cm. Depth: 14cm approx.

Condition:

Some historic losses to the surround. Two holes to the planed area either side of the head and a further old nail hole to the planed area under the beard. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.

Postage:

Calculated at checkout.

Item will be sent tracked and signed-for.
