A carved wood statue of the Madonna & Child, dating to the 18th century. This finely carved statue depicts the Madonna & Child stood upon a crescent moon and trampling a serpent. The child Christ is excellently observed with one arm outstretched, and the Virgin Mary is equally well carved with intricate drapery of her robes. The statue is fixed to a base with scrolling designs. The whole piece has a good colour and patina.

Condition:
Christ's left arm and slither of body reattatched. Fingers and thumb missing on Christ's left hand. One finger missing from Christ's right hand. Possible small on top of Christ's hair and evidence he may have had a halo. Filler/restoration on reverse of Madonna. Some small old woodworm holes in areas. Some minor shrinkage cracks. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
