Description:
A carved wood statue of an angel, dating to the mid 19th century. This finely carved statue depicts an angel holding a gilded chalice, and has been sensitively observed with a serene expression on the angel's face. There is good attention to detail, especially the finely carved locks of hair, the fingers and the toes. The piece has a flat back and is intended to be displayed on a wall.

Height: 38.2cm. Width: 21.7cm. Depth: 8.5cm.
Condition:
Extensive historic woodworm damage throughout, especially on the reverse. Both hands and the chalice have been reattatched/restored. Small piece of chalice and the tips of fingers of left hand reattatched. Tip of the wing reattatched with traces of old hard wax restoration. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
