A superb pair of bronze & ormolu candlesticks, dating to the second half of the 18th century. Bronze busts of satyrs with leaves and grapes intertwined in their hair are set upon fluted columns, supporting ormolu candle holders composed of acanthus leaves, flowers and scrolls. The ormolu bases are richly decorated of naturalistic form composed of branches, leaves, and other rococo motifs. The candlesticks are of exceptional quality and workmanship and are subtly asymmetrical with the busts individually cast facing opposing sides. Old collection marks underneath.

Condition:
Wear and rubbing to polychrome in places. Loss to the man's base on the front right side, and a small loss to the lady's base on the reverse right side. Age related wear as expected but overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
