A pair of French bronze busts of Voltaire and Rousseau, dating to the early 19th century. This pair of busts depict the famous and highly influential philosophers Voltaire and Rousseau. These bronzes are of exceptional quality with wonderful attention to detail. Each bust is presented on fixed bleu turquin marble cylindrical columns with stepped plinths and gilt bronze ornaments. The bronze busts have an excellent dark patina with the tips of their nose's rubbed to a slight subtle shine by an affectionate previous owner – a touch for good luck over many, many years - quite charming!

Some very minor nibbles around the edge of bases. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
