Description:
A folk art carved wood & painted whirligig figure of a British Guardsman, dating to the early 20th century. This is an excellent example of a whirligig figure and a superb piece of folk art. The whirligig figure depicts a British Guardsman wearing a busby hat and dressed in full military uniform with medals. The paddle arms attached to the body by metal fixtures and can be spun/rotated 360 degrees. The figure has a metal fixture with hole to the base and has been presented on a later custom made wooden stand.
Dimensions:
Height of figure alone with arm up 51.4cm. (56.1cm inc base). Width: 16cm. Diameter of base: 12cm.
Condition:
Some very light marks including some small old white paint splatters in places. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
