A wonderful Black Forest carved wood nutcracker depicting a gnome's head, dating to circa 1900. Excellent attention to detail with a finely carved face full of expression. The piece has a good dark colour and patina. The handle has a carved inscription that reads: “RIESENGEBIRGE”, which is a mountain rage on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic, also known as “The Giant Mountains”.
A few minor marks to the handle. Age related wear as expected but overall in very good condition. Please examine photos carefully.The larger stool's top has a lot of old marks and one of the stool legs is padded with blue fabric in the joint. The smaller stool has some old worm holes (treated) to part of the joining timber between two legs. Age related wear as expected but overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
