Black Forest Dog Inkwell
Black Forest Dog Inkwell
Description:
A Black Forest carved wood dog with glass ink well, dating to the late 19th century. This lovely carving depicts a terrier with glass eyes, sitting next to a holder with a removable cut-glass inkwell with silver-plate hinged lid. I suspect the inkwell is a later addition but it fits well.
Dimensions:
Height: 14.1cm. Width: 13.5cm. Depth: 5.9cm.
Condition:
A few faint surface marks in places – a bit of rubbing to the nose. Silver-plate of the lid is rubbed revealing brass beneath. Very small nibbles to the glass on the front – hard to see but can be felt. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good condition. Please examine photos carefully.
