A Black Forest carved wood inkwell in the form of a cat in a shoe, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. This charming and finely carved piece depicts a cat with glass eyes, poking his head and paws out of a worn boot or shoe. The upper section opens on a brass hinge to reveal a removable small glass inkwell.

Condition:
The black of the eyes has faded/worn away to show a silver colour. Small chip to the tip of the lid. A few faint surface marks in places. Lid is slightly “smiling”. Age related wear as expected. Overall in fair condition. Please examine photos carefully.
