Balinese Statue
Description:
A Balinese carved wood statue, dating to circa 1930s. The piece depicts a male and female figure of stylised elongated form, seated with entwined legs and each holding a ball. This is an exceptional piece of carving and likely from the Pita Maha period of Balinese art and sculpture. It is signed “Nyoman. B” and further inscribed with an address in Jakarta. I am unable to find any information on the woodcarver.
