A wonderful pressed birch bark snuff box, dating to the first half of the 19th century. This fine snuff box depicts an amusing scene on the hinged lid: two gentleman fighting over a hare. The attention to detail is fantastic with the men being dressed in smart hunting attire with a satchel and powder flask, their hats flying off from the commotion and two dogs at their side also caught up in the action. The scene is set within a landscape with lots of detailed foliage. The sides of the box are embellished with an intricate scrolling acanthus leaf design. The box is great quality and has a lovely colour and patina.
