Description:

A carved alabaster head of a lady, probably Hebe, dating to the late 19th century. This finely carved head closely resembles and is likely after a statue of Hebe, the Greek goddess of youth and the daughter of Zeus, carved by Antonio Canova (1757–1822). The fragmentary condition suggests this was once part of a larger bust or statue and has been later presented on an ebonised wood base that can be removed. This is a curious little piece that is finely carved with good detail and the presentation gives it great decorative appeal.

Dimensions:

Total height including base: 12.5cm. Height of head alone 5.4cm (approx). Width and depth of base: 4.7cm x 4.7cm.

Condition:

Fragment of a larger piece. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
