Description:
A carved alabaster bust of Antinous, dating to the late 19th century. This finely carved bust depicts the head and torso of Antinous posed in a downward gaze. This statue is known as “The Capitoline Antinous” and is after a Roman full-standing marble statue that was discovered at Hadrian's Villa, Tivoli, during excavations circa 1720s. This is a wonderful alabaster bust and is fixed on a slate socle base.
Dimensions:
Total height including base: 22.4cm. Width: 13.6cm. Diameter of base: 6.5cm.
Condition:
Some slight bruising/blemishing and minor chips around edges. The base also has some minor chips/nibbles around the edge. Age related wear as expected. Overall good. Please examine photos carefully.
