This painting likely depicts the biblical meeting of Ruth and Boaz, the figures at the edge of a wooded path and opening up to a wider landscape with crop fields, distant architectural ruins, and soft hills bathed in an atmospheric light. This is a wonderful painting that is full of fine detail. The signature in the lower left corner is unfortunately obscured by paint loss, but begins with “Ma.....”. Age related wear as expected. Overall in good ready to hang condition.
