This painting is in the manner of Philips Wouverman (1619-1668) and depicts a cavalier in a red cloak holding the bridle of a horse that has been startled by a dog in the foreground. In the background there are two further riders overlooking the rolling hills, with one sitting upon a brown horse and holding a hawk. This is a wonderful painting with great detail.
