Players stood about 8 yards from the head and the winner is the player who succeeds in breaking the pipe forming the nose: the other pipes do not count. There are other variations of these rules such as the winner is whoever breaks the most pipes in a given amount of throws. The Aunt Sally head is constructed of wood and is dressed in paisley design fabric. The head shows signs of over-painting, presumably to “freshen” her up after becoming a bit too bashed. She comes with two wooden batons and a ball and she is contained in the original box with paper label and iron handles and fixtures.
